King Bone Press: The Early Years

In February of 2001 I painted this little postcard sized self portrait. Not a very good painting or likeness but I did seem to like it at the time. I don't know which came first, this or the ink drawing of the same image. What I do know is that the ink drawing  was used for the initial King Bone Press logo. This was long before Westhoff joined, and subsequently took over 95% of the KBP publishing duties, and adorned the back covers of the three issues of b-one comics volume one. I have not been able to locate that particular piece of artwork but when I do I'll be sure to post it.

Not all change is good, but holy hell am I glad that I got rid of this thing once we started publishing again years later.

The World's Strongest Mailman

I generally don't like to use a lot of photoshop artwork in my comics but I when Jon Westhoff specified the type of shirt that Svend would wear in my World's Strongest Mailman story I thought that it would be fun to create the pattern and photoshop it in. It's not a true pattern, it won't repeat as a fill pattern, but it was a nice change of pace for me. I posted the color version of the pattern for fun and you can see the final product here.

The World's Strongest Mailman

Hello everyone, it seems like it has been a long time. I haven't posted much lately although I did get to get to the 100th Boozehounds strip. I have been working on a story arc for Jon Westhoff & Bryan Boles' The World's Strongest Mailman.

Here's a promo image that I just worked up, borrowing the concept from regular series artist Bryan Boles. Look for it to post in about two weeks, but you can catch up on all the fun here.

Interlude: Apocalypse...Meh

I'm currently working against a deadline for an online project that I'm working on with a friend so your regularly scheduled Boozehounds strip will be delayed. In the meantime I thought that it would be fun to revisit the very first Jon Westhoff/Bobgar Ornelas collaboration; Apocalypse...Meh!

Spooooky comics as only Jon Westhoff can write them. I had an immediate dislike of the script when I read it, I don't know why I ever doubted Jon, this works perfectly. :)  Not being a colorist, I had a tough time working this strip's color palette. I'm pretty pleased with the result.

King Bone Press Library

Here's our output to date, it's been a crazy few years. It's shocking to me that something that I did in my spare time has continued to grow. With Jon Westhoff taking charge and getting the 11 O'clock Comics Anthologies going and bringing in new people to work with in projects such as Bandthology, there's no way we're stopping anytime soon! Jon wrangles in the talent for our anthologies while I get to focus on b-one. We're a good team.

We have a TON of stuff planned, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Bandthology Previews

Hello all. Just in case you didn't already know I am working on a story for the upcoming Banthology comic book anthology. I'm working with my usual writing partner Jon Westhoff and a few other suspect individuals! (some which may have made appearances on Boozehounds as writers and artists).
