Boozehounds 03/30/2012
I ran out of my Boozehounds so I had to improvise with my materials this time out. Fun, but I don't think that I'll be doing this again.

b-one #6 cover revealed!
Scanned artwork. No alterations. |
Scanned, threshhold adjusted with logo overlay |
Final colored version. Flat colors is the way I roll. |
So there is is a tiny view at the process for the cover of b-one issue #6. If you'll take note that I didn't scan pencils for this piece, that's because there were no real pencils for this cover. I did a rough sketch in blueline and went straight to inks. It's a fun little cover that while the scene doesn't actually occur within the book it is thematically accurate.
The book will debut at C2E2 and will be available ant the King Bone Webstore soon afterwards. King Bone Press will be at Booth 692 . Come down and say hi!

Just because I don't know when to let a joke just run its course, here's T-Dog and a certain podcast host! Yes that's the infamously, almost always silent T-Dog from the Walking Dead television show.
This was fun even though the likenesses are a bit off.

Boozehounds 03/21/2012 Guest Writer & Artist!
Oh yeah! We got Lawrence Rosales and Monsta in the house! These guys are a great team you can see more of them in their upcoming project The Guys. I've seen preview images and they are FANTASTIC!
And you can see more of Monsta here.
Public apology time. No matter what I do I always seem to slight Monsta :( Not my intention, everybody kick me in the nuts. I bumped his comic from Monday to Wednesday. I'm a jerk, I wonder why he still talks to me. He's a real stand up guy though, you'd do yourself right to talk to him online. Cool cat.

Post St. Patrick's Day shenanigans. Guy is such a jerk!
We got some amazing guest strips this week, so please come back soon!

Boozehounds 03/16/2012
It's St Patrick's Day tomorrow, just a reminder to be safe. As the comic says no jokes today, we have a great time drinking and goofing off here at Boozehounds but we want to make sure that everybody gets home same Saturday night.
More of our usual style shenanigans on Monday.

Boozehounds 03/14/2012 Guest Writer/Artist!
They say everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Reading this guest strip by Felipe Garza & Mat Nixon make me feel a little green around the gills. I wonder if that counts.
A round of applause everybody for these two gentlemen knocking it out of the park with this strip.

Public apology time! Mat Nixon sent this complete guest Boozehounds strip and I somehow didn't see the email. You should have seen this weeks ago. Sorry Mat. Sorry audience. I'm a big dummy.
Coincidentally Mat & Felipe Garza teamed up for Wednesday's strip too. I'll be back on Friday!.

Boozehounds submissions guidlines & rules.
So ya wanna be a Boozehound, eh?
It's been a few months and we've had a few new contributors. I thought it was time to go over the submission rules & guidelines one more time. (quoted below).
What I was negligent to post is the working size of my artwork and the final web size of the published work. I work on a 10.5"x4" art area. Scanned at 300dpi. Colored and lettered at that size and saved as a 72dpi 800 pixel by 326 pixel file.
From the Boozehounds Premier post 01/02/2012:
"The last thing that the world needs is another web comic, am I right? Well I’ve done a few different ones over the years and this is a stupid idea that I had about 15 years ago and I finally got off my ass and drew up this little…thing. This first one explains the basic premise of the comic. It ain’t gonna get any better than this. I know it isn’t all that good but I’m gonna have a hell of a time doing this.
Now for the fun part! I’m opening this up to submissions! Whether they be just written or both written & illustrated. As long as they fit the dimensions of this comic posted and follows the one panel format I will post them on this blog.* So you think that you can write a better comic strip about two dudes in a bar? Well go for it. We’ll post it here!
Now it’s starting to sound better, right? Now for the legal mumbo jumbo. It’s easy; you submit a script or artwork or both & I post on this blog giving full credit to you. I allow you to reproduce in any way that you see fit, and profit off of your work with the condition that you give proper credit to the strip’s origins. Mainly my name and this web address. Easy right? In exchange you give me the same permissions to reproduce, profit, etc as long as I give you credit for any work that you have done. I will never pay you and you will never pay me. We just give credit where credit is due and keep on keeping on. Sound good? Sweet.
The strip is scheduled to be updated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays but I’m sure there will be times when the schedule is mucked up a bit. For example due to the holiday this first strip is going up late.
*I’m pretty lenient and tolerant of most subject matters but this is a public non restricted blog so please feel free to use coarse language & what not, but please stick to less than a “Rated R” approach. (aka no porn)"

Bandthology Previews
Cover art by Ryan Kelly (local) and panel preview art by Bobgar Ornelas |
Hello all. Just in case you didn't already know I am working on a story for the upcoming Banthology comic book anthology. I'm working with my usual writing partner Jon Westhoff and a few other suspect individuals! (some which may have made appearances on Boozehounds as writers and artists).
The reason that I'm writing this is that we as a group need to fund the book before publishing it. We are about halfway to our goal. If you want to preorder and take advantage of our various incentives plese check our chip in here. (it's a similar model to kickstarter campaigns)
The Bandthology blog is here.
Thanks a bunch we appreciate it. We hope that you'll have as much fun reading our book as we had making it!

Creator Owned Day 2012.
I'm told that today is Creator Owned Day 2012. This of course referencing "creator owned" comic books and web comics or just plain old non corporate creative output.
Should I "pimp my wares" as it were to you guys & gals? Maybe. But let me give it up to a minute amount of people doing what they do, the way they want to. This is in no way a complete list but a section of people that I think deserve your attention. Did I miss some one? Let me know in the comments section and I'll rectify the mistake. I will also link this to facebook, twitter & google plus.
Printed Material
Kyle Nolan's mini comics Space Love Robots Brain Dead Phylum & Bedbug are awesome and affordable.
Josh Blair puts out a quarterly anthology and it's the bees knees, buddy! Candy or Medicine
Jon Westhoff, our friends, & my offerings at King Bone Press
Web Comics
They Guys at Strips 4 do great stuff, various web comics/strips. My favorite being Awful Lot
Zack Kruse & Company do their stuff with Mystery Solved Different arcs, with different artists!! Plus the Johnny Appleseed And The Robot Saucermen 24 hour mini comic interlude!
Supernatural Western tales illustrated by the cool as hell Dave Wachter in Guns of Shadow Valley.
CAAATS! by Matt Gross will make you purr (and me sneeze as I'm still allergic).
Music
Theraypist EXPLICIT PORN RAP
Daemon Familiar power-pop trio from Chicago.
Podcasts (all available via itunes and the links listed below) Good people, good shows.
The Pull List comics!
Signed In x-box 360!
Earth 2 Podcast comics n junk!
Mostly Mellow Popculture Podcast popculture!
Burnt Weiners comics!
11 O'Clock Comics comics!
Internet Boyfriends conversation!
Double Page Spread comics and food recipes!
The Nabe Society movies!
etc etc etc.
