New Comic Wednesday: Stonebrook Tales

Welcome back to New Comic Wednesday! Once a month on a Wednesday I will post a short story here on the blog for free! Most stories will be 4-8 pages in length but I'm not ruling out longer stories if the story warrants. "Once a month"? Alright, you caught me. I missed last month due to moving so you'll get a bonus today.

This time around we have 3 shorts from my Stonebrook Tales series. The two first stories from b-one #1 and Punk Rock from Bandthology #3 available from King Bone Press and Comixology. Stonebrook Tales is my baby, and you can read it in every issue of b-one.

Check out most of my published works at King Bone Press. We offer both digital and print comics.

It's that time again! We just released b-one #10. The issue is available exclusively on the KBP store here. Only $1.

This issue features two comedy shorts and two Stonebrook stories which should you should find surprising as I am surprised at where the characters are taking themselves.  This one is not for kids.

Hello all! I promised to post a link to my Society6 page and here it is! If you aren't familiar with Society6, they are a print and merchandise maker that does print on demand work. My intention is to mix a few mashups like the ones you see on this page with a few legitimate art print designs like the Grasshopper one that I did a few months ago. In a self indulgent, narcissist turn, I will make all the (original) t-shirts worn by Manuel and Chivo in Stonebrook available for purchase. I'd like to do 50/50 ratio on fun mashups and such and completely original designs. Look for more in the future.

It's that time again! We just released b-one #9. As the promo image states, the issue is only available now on the KBP store here.

This issue features longer, more satisfying Stonebrook stories, a comical return of a secondary series, and a one time horror story that is quite a departure from my usual fare. This one is not for kids.

Dec 2008 - Dec 2014 or "I ain't special".

Sometimes you think that you'll never get started but then look back at what you've accomplished.  I can't encapsulate in a short blog post exactly how much time I wasted before starting b-one.  My work was never good enough to even TRY to make a comic. So I did what most of us do, I waited, procrastinated, delayed attempting to start the venture for years. YEARS. All because "I wasn't good enough yet". Well, no shit. There's no way to improve at anything by avoiding the task that you wish to be better at. You have to work. WORK. It's always going to be work. Nothing will be handed to you. You'll find your work cringe worthy at first. Keep working. Over time you'll learn what works, what doesn't and the one constant is the work. The process. Soon you'll find that you aren't so ashamed of your work. You may even feel a little bit of pride. Either way, looking back at the past seven years and seeing b-one become a reality is really satisfying. Am I proud? Nah, but I do have a sense of accomplishment. You can do it too. It'll be work, but you can do it. Just stop daydreaming about that great American Novel, that concept album, t-shirt line, or comic book and start working. It's that first step of a marathon, or first brick in the wall that people talk about. DO NOT WAIT TEN YEARS. I DID. Take that first step. Get some work done. We can't wait to see what you come up with.

Oh, yeah. Those of you that have been holding out for b-one #8 print edition, the wait is almost over. Sending them over to distro this week.

b-one #8 - process

 

Hello all. Just a quick little post here. Some of you may already know that I've struggled a bit with the writing aspect of the next issue of b-one. Some of the delays are King Bone Press publishing duty related, that and artwork on Bandthology III and Bullet Proof Chicken: Nuggets so I can't say that it hasn't been a fun ride. In any case I'm back and working diligently on b-one #8. Here's a bit of process, progress on the first Stonebrook story of the issue.
