b-one #8 - process

Hello all. Just a quick little post here. Some of you may already know that I've struggled a bit with the writing aspect of the next issue of b-one. Some of the delays are King Bone Press publishing duty related, that and artwork on Bandthology III and Bullet Proof Chicken: Nuggets so I can't say that it hasn't been a fun ride. In any case I'm back and working diligently on b-one #8. Here's a bit of process, progress on the first Stonebrook story of the issue.

Please enjoy responsibly,

Last week I promised a brand new b-one FUNZIES this week and by gum I delivered! I intended to draw this up a while back, but time did not permit.

Hardcore Days

Back in the day I was in a couple of hardcore bands; Deciding Factor and Egotrip. Both with lifelong friend and guitarist Rick and a few good friends. Looking up zine, flyer, band merch artwork in my boxes of original art and digital files I decided to release all the Egotrip recordings. I packaged them with original artwork from the time. The EP was part of a split CD so I repurposed flyer artwork for the cover. A buck for each demo or EP. There ain't no profit in it, it just pays for the online storage.
Yeah, I'm being a bit reminiscent today, but some of my favorite memories are from these days. Great shows, great music, great friends. Check it out if you're so inclined.

You can buy the music along with art, prints, buttons and other junk at my store here.

Hardcore Days

A while back I was in a hardcore band. That one didn't pan out as is usually the case with hxc bands of the time, so another band was formed. Nothing groundbreaking or interesting there. We had some great shows, we had some less than stellar shows. What was cool was creating content for our websites, and hxc zines, and flyers. Here's a few comics and comic style illustration that I did for the band and a couple of zines. The two color illos were recolored by me this week. A couple of these were posted as full color or printed in black and white.

I'll post more of this type of work as I find it and scan it. It'll be under the title of Hardcore Days but not all of these are going to be hxc scene inspired. Some illustrations and logos were done for pop punk bands or death metal bands. Some of it I'm not too proud of but it is a part of my life and it's fun to revisit the old days.

Hope you had fun with this trip down memory lane as well. New b-one comic magazine is underway. Look for new b-one FUNZIES web comics next week (if all goes according to plan).

Please enjoy responsibly,

Comix Rx: Check these people out!

Some of you may know that I host a comics podcast (Earth 2), some may not. On the show we do a segment called Comix Rx that is intended to highlight a comic that may be below your radar. Since I have been pimping the opening of my store I thought that it was only fair to help out a few of my friends. This is by no means a complete listing, there will be subsequent postings under the Comix Rx banner.
While the following have all worked with King Bone Press, they do so much on their own. Harry Moyer has curated and compiled three FREE western anthologies, Saddle Sore and has a unique run of mini comics. The Brothers O'Briant have a plethora of web comics and the all ages print series MAPS published through their Strips4 imprint.  John Boren is the hardest working man in non sequential art! He's always on a quest to do the next drawing and I'm happy to say that I have seen him impress me time and time again with the growth of his art. A little birdy told me that he is working on a sequential story so stay tuned.
So here are your links to free stuff and their stores. Take a gander and if so inclined please support the true independents.
Thank ye,
Bobgar Ornelas

slurmo.storenvy.com now open!

Hey everyone, I opened up a store to sell original artwork, prints, pins and other miscellanea that isn’t a direct product of King Bone Press.  Go to the KBP store for all things KBP and go to my store for the sketches that I post on these blogs.  I’ll add sketches and artwork once a week to start off and depending on how things pan out either taper it off or add more products like the prints and buttons. I’ll be drawing this stuff regardless; it’s up to you as to whether I get the art produced as merchandise.

Well, thanks for reading this and thanks for your interest in my store.
You can find it here slurmo.storenvy.com/
